OK, I’ve been building up to Rome for basically this whole podcast so far, and now it’s time to finally start talking about it. In this episode, I want to answer the question, ‘Why is Rome so important?’
Before I even get around to talking about the history of Rome, which is incredibly cool in itself, I want to talk a bit here at the front end about why Rome is so important. I mean, you could make the argument that it’s the most important civilization in all of history. Its only potential rival would be China. If you confine your argument to the western world, then the clear winner, in a category all to itself, is Rome. Ancient Greece has a case, too, but just because they were first. Or were they?
